Chapter 35
Kristen woke up the next morning and went into the kitchen where Toni and AJ were. She began making herself some breakfast to eat. Toni and AJ looked at each other with a weird expression on their faces. "Good morning," AJ said to Kristen after a couple of minutes.
"Morning," Kristen said happily and smiled at them. She left the kitchen in the middle of cooking herself breakfast to go sit down since she still was too weak to stand for long amounts of time. Toni went and sat down next to her.
"Why this sudden change?" she asked Kristen.
"What do you mean?"
"Well, for the past week you were practically lifeless and now you're making an effort and eating and all that." Kristen looked over at AJ in the kitchen and saw he wasn't paying attention to them since he was finishing making her breakfast. Kristen moved closer to Toni to talk to her so AJ wouldn't hear their conversation.
"I heard your and AJ's conversation about me yesterday about needing help and all that," Kristen said softly.
"Kristen please don't be mad at us. We were just worried about you and wanted the best for you," Toni said worriedly.
"I'm not mad. I needed to hear that coming from my friends. It made me realize that I can't let my life go down the drain because of Nick. I also realized that I need to talk with Nick.........today."
"Are you crazy? You can't go talk to him today."
"Why not?"
"Because you still can't even stand up on your own barely."
"Toni, I have to face him."
"Well, at least wait until you have your strength back please." Kristen agreed and AJ brought her her food. She ate as much as she could hold to try and gain her strength back.
A few days had passed and Kristen was back to her normal self except for thinner. She had just gotten out of the shower so she had a towel wrapped around her and her wet hair brushed back while she was going through her bag of clothing she had at AJ's throwing clothes every where trying to figure out what to wear when she went to see Nick. "Need some help?" Toni asked going into her room.
"I have nothing to wear! I need my room with all my stuff!"
"Well....we could always go and get it."
"Would you go for me please? See if AJ would go with you that way you can get my car too. Please Toni I'll do anything but I need my stuff!"
"Yeah I will. There's something I wanted to talk to you about first though."
"What's that?"
"What do you say we get an apartment together."
"You're moving here?" Kristen asked and Toni nodded her head. Kristen jumped up and ran and hugged Toni holding her towel up. "This is great! I can go job searching today and get back on my feet."
"Great. I'll go get AJ and we'll leave to pick up your stuff."
"Thanks Toni," Kristen said as she left the room. About twenty minutes later Toni and AJ were knocking on the door of Kristen's apartment. The door opened and they saw Cassie standing there.
"What do you want?" Cassie asked rudely staring at Toni.
"May we come in?" AJ asked.
"You can but she can't."
"Oh stop being such a bitch and grow up," Toni said to Cassie.
"AJ! It's good to see you!" Angela said when she went to the door. She moved past Cassie to give AJ a hug. "Come in you two." Cassie glared at Angela and shut the door behind them. "I haven't seen you in like two weeks."
"Yeah, things have been hectic," AJ said.
"How is Kristen doing?" Angela leaned in and whispered.
"A lot better than she was. She was putting herself through hell."
"Gees, she must really love Nick. I would have stopped by your place to check on her but I've been so busy with school and work."
"It's okay. We're here to get Kristen's stuff."
"She's moving out?"
"Me and her are getting an apartment together as soon as we get jobs," Toni answered.
"So you're moving to Orlando. That's good. I guess it's also good that Kristen is moving out. Either her or Cassie had to go because they would be at each other's throats constantly."
"No joke," Toni said. They went into Kristen and Cassie's room and began packing up everything that was Kristen's and putting it in boxes in AJ's and her's cars. A few hours later they drove the two cars back to AJ's and started bringing the boxes inside. After everything was in Kristen's room Kristen went through the clothes box to find something to wear. She picked out a pair of white shorts, a white spaghetti strapped shirt, and a black sleeveless beaded shirt to wear over it and black sandals. She did her make-up and put half her hair up in a claw clip with curls coming out of it.
"I'm ready to go," Kristen said walking into the living room.
"Are you sure you want to face him right now?" AJ asked coming up to her.
"I have to get it over with sooner or later and it's always better sooner than later."
"Well good luck with him," AJ said giving her a hug. Kristen got her car keys and got in her car and drove to Nick's place. When she got there she just stood at his front door afraid to knock. After standing there for a few minutes she got up the courage and rang the door bell. After a couple of seconds the door opened and there stood Nick in front of her own to eyes.
"Kristen?" Nick asked surprised to see her.
"Hi Carter."
