Chapter 57
~One Week Later~
"Brian how am I supposed to get her to talk to me? I try calling her but she ignores me and if I see her in public she turns the other way," Nick said over at Brian's house while they were playing some basketball.
"How should I know? You've asked me that same question every day now for the past week and I always give you the same answer," Brian said.
"Go ask Kristen or something. She's Toni's best friend."
"I have talked to her! She said that I need to find a way to get Toni back because she is miserable. I ask her what I can do and she said she didn't know and she couldn't get in the middle of it no matter how much she thought she needed to."
"Have you ever thought of just letting her go and moving on?"
"I don't want to move on! I want Toni!" Nick screamed. "Now help me because I can't last another day without her!"
"Well, I have an idea for ya," Brian said after a couple minutes of thinking as he shot the basketball and it went through the hoop.
"What is it!?!" Nick asked excitedly.
"You helped AJ get together with Kristen right?"
"Yeah, so."
"So take your own advice in getting Toni back."
"What do you mean? Like sing a song to her or something?"
"Yes, that's what it means."
"You're a genius!" Nick yelled as he took off running.
"I'm a genius for using his idea? Okay then," Brian said sarcastically to himself.
"Will you just talk to him!" Kristen yelled at Toni at their apartment.
"Why should I?" Toni asked rudely.
"Because he won't leave me alone! Nick is literally driving me insane asking me how he can get you back and you won't stop being stubborn for ten minutes and talk with him! All you have been doing is walking around all depressed without him!"
"It's not going to help anything! We are over! Do you got that Kristen?"
"You are being such a bitch about this!" Kristen screamed at her. "Nick is the best guy you will ever get and every day that goes by you have a less and less chance of getting back together with him!"
"So you think I'm not good enough for anyone but Nick?" Toni asked feeling insulted.
"No I mean that Nick is the best. He may screw up really bad sometimes but he does everything in his power to make it right again. Everyone deserves a second chance especially Nick."
"Then why didn't you give him a second chance?"
"I did but we both knew it was over for good. You and Nick both know that you belong together but you refuse to believe it." Kristen said as there was a knock on the door. "Nick, what are you doing here?" she asked when she opened the door. Kristen looked over at Toni who left to her room so she wouldn't have to face Nick.
"I need you to give Toni this," Nick said handing her a small box wrapped up.
"Sure. What is it if you don't mind me asking?"
"It's a tape. Make sure she listens to the whole thing."
"What's on it?"
"Just a bunch of songs that we have on our albums."
"No offense Nick but if that is the way you are going to get her back I think you're plan will fail."
"It's not. Make sure she is home and awake at ten o'clock tonight."
"Why so late?"
"It'll have more meaning if I show up that late at night," Nick said leaving. Kristen closed the door and went into Toni's room and threw the box on her bed and told her to open it then left. Toni opened the box to find a cassette tape and another small box. Toni opened the second box to find a diamond bracelet in it.
"Whoa," she said to herself as she looked at it. She put it around her wrist and then picked up the letter that was attached which read:
Dearest Toni,
The tape that you have has 5 songs on it that me and the rest of the guys have sung for awhile now. All of the songs are:
*Everytime I Close My Eyes
*I Need You Tonight
*Don't Wanna Lose You Now
*Back To Your Heart
*Like A Child
So you're probably wondering why I would give you a tape of a few songs that you have heard a million times before. The thing is whenever I sang one of those songs they never had a true meaning to me before. Now they have more meaning to me than they ever will. All the words now come straight from my heart. I want you to listen to all five songs and really listen to the words like you never have before. Everything you hear is what my heart has been wanting to tell you all throughout this past week. I never knew how precious you were to me until I lost you. I've made mistakes before but there is one mistake I will refuse to have. That's to never be with you again. Go to your stereo and put the tape in right now.
Toni got up and put the tape in to hear the first song which was "Everytime I Close My Eyes" and went and sat back down on her bed to finish reading the letter.
"Every word I say comes straight from the heart, I never meant to hurt you, I'd do anything for one more chance, I took for granted the love you gave to me, I miss you so much, I'm in love and if feels so right, I want you back again" are some of the lines in the song you're hopefully listening to right now. They are one hundred percent true with you. I'm sorry for everything that happened at my parent's house. I'm hoping you'll give me another chance but if you won't I just have one last thing to say. "I love you."

Toni set the letter down and wiped her eyes free of tears. She did as Nick had said and listened to the tape listening to the words carefully. As she listened it only made her cry even more. When the tape ended she lay in her bed for a couple more minutes. She finally got up and went to her stereo and took the tape out. She looked at it for a second before she started pulling the strip tape out of it and then throwing the plastic and tape on the floor. She looked at her wrist that she had put the diamond bracelet on and she took it off and threw it towards her waste basket where it landed on the floor next to it. "I'll never allow myself to be hurt by any guy again," she said to herself.
