Chapter 59
"How did things go last night when you went to the police station?" Kristen asked Toni the next morning. Toni had been out so late that Kristen didn't bother to wait up to find out what happened. "You guys didn't happen to get lucky last night did ya?" Kristen asked with a joking smile.
"No, Kristen we didn't. Nothing happened. We kissed and that was about it."
"You kissed? I went to bed at one in the morning and you still weren't back yet. More happened than just that."
"We just talked for a while. All I can say it's a damn good thing Nick can sing. AJ too because they would have no idea on how to win the two of us over."
"Good point," Kristen said as someone knocked on the door. She opened it to see Brian, Kevin, and Angela on the other side. "Hey what are you guys doing here so early?"
"We're all flying to Kentucky in a few hours to spend Thanksgiving with our family," Kevin said.
"Aren't you going to spend Thanksgiving with your parents?" Kristen asked Angela.
"No. Me and Brian were with them last year so this year it's his family. We switch off."
"Damn, you two act like you're married or something."
"Not hardly," Angela said.
"And why is that?" Brian asked.
"Because I don't like you that much," Angela said sarcastically as she kissed Brian.
"We have to get to the airport so we better get going. We thought we would just stop by since we won't see you since you leave in a few days to go on tour with Britney Spears. How is she working out?" Kevin asked.
"Haven't really talked to her. We've been so busy rehearsing that we don't really speak."
"She's too busy talking with TJ I bet," Toni said going to the door.
"And who may ask is TJ?" Angela asked.
"One of Britney's fine ass male dancers who checked her out at the concert," Toni said smiling.
"Interesting. Be careful with TJ and dancing and don't hurt yourself," Kevin said giving Kristen a hug good-bye then Toni telling her he would see her in a few days. The three of them left and Kristen went to grab her bag to leave for her last day of rehearsing.
"What are you doing for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow night?" Kristen asked Toni when she was about ready to walk out the door.
"Nick invited me over to his parent's house. This time we promised each other that there would be no pranks. Are you going to be with AJ?"
"I don't know. I haven't really had a very long conversation with him for the past few days so I don't know what I'm doing."
"Well, if he doesn't invite you just come with me and Nick. I'm sure his parents won't mind."
"Alright, I'll see you later. If AJ calls tell him I'll probably have to talk with him tomorrow. I'll be getting back late," Kristen said as she walked out the door. She drove over to the rehearsals and arrived about ten minutes later. All the dancers were told that they would be doing a whole run through of the dances and then they would start getting together their outfits they would be wearing for the different dances. When they finished that they would be doing a few more run throughs of the dances in their outfits.
Around noon Toni got in the shower and got ready and went and picked Nick up at his house. "What brings you by?" Nick asked giving Toni a quick kiss on the cheek.
"I told you I would buy you a new outfit to replace the one that I through in the ocean. So, I'm taking you shopping now hurry up." Nick grabbed his sunglasses and wallet and went to get in Toni's car when he noticed she wasn't in there. He heard a car horn honking and he turned around to see Toni in the driver's side of his prowler.
"What may I ask do you think you are doing?" Nick asked Toni when he walked over to her.
"I like your car better than mine. Now get in."
"I'm driving then."
"No, I am."
"I don't think so."
"If you are so anxious to drive then here are the keys to my car and you can follow me," Toni said with a sweet smile holding up her car keys. Nick let out a sigh then hopped in the passenger side of his prowler as Toni sped away down the driveway.
"How did you get my keys?" Nick asked confused.
"Well, Nicky, it's a bad idea to leave you're keys in an unlocked car. It's very easy to get stolen by someone like me. Remind me that we need to go to the grocery store later."
"For what?"
"We're going to your parent's house for dinner tomorrow night."
"My parents are supplying all the food."
"No, that's rude. I called your mom before I came to pick you up and told her I would bring a few pies and you are going to help me make them."
"You're kidding right?"
"Nope."
"Oh great," Nick said as he leaned his head back against the seat.
~Later that Night~
"Nick! You're making a mess!" Toni yelled. They had gotten back from shopping and were at Toni's apartment. They were in the kitchen making pies for the Thanksgiving dinner with Nick's parents the next night. Nick was using the electric mixer and was getting pumpkin pie mess all over the walls and counters with it.
"I told you I couldn't do this!" Nick said turning off the electric mixer. Toni looked at him and noticed he was covered with the mess and she started busting up laughing. "I don't find this amusing."
"Well, you're not looking at yourself from my point of view," Toni said as someone knocked on her door. "Go and answer that while I put the pies in the oven please."
"Whoa, aren't you a pretty sight," AJ said when Nick answered the door. "Where are the girls?"
"Toni is in the kitchen and Kristen is not here," Nick said allowing AJ to enter closing the door behind him.
"Hey AJ, what's up?" Toni asked coming out of the kitchen.
"Not much. Where's Kristen at?"
"She's still at rehearsals. She's been there since seven this morning I think."
"Seven? It's going on eight now. That's thirteen hours of rehearsing. Are they trying to work her and the other dancers to death or something?" AJ asked getting up and walking to the door.
"Where are you going?"
"To go see her," AJ asked walking out the door. He walked down the stairs and went into the parking lot just in time to see Kristen's car pull up. AJ walked up to her car and opened the driver's side door and helped her out.
"Thanks," Kristen said taking AJ's arm as the two of them walked back into her apartment. "Oh this is just what I like to see when I get home," Kristen said sarcastically when she opened the door. Toni and Nick were on the couch kissing which was turning into a huge make out session. "Didn't we establish rules a while ago about this?"
"Oh yeah. Oops," Toni said with a smile.
"I'm going to start heading home anyways," Nick said giving Toni a kiss good-bye.
"Why?"
"Because I need to rest up for all the food my stomach will be holding tomorrow night," Nick said leaving.
"Guys are such pigs on holidays," Toni said.
"Oh you know you are too," Kristen said.
"So are you."
"Not this year. I'm not going to eat that much."
"You're not going on a diet are you?" AJ asked with concern. "You still haven't gained the weight back that you lost over the deal with Nick."
"No, I'm not. There's a concert the day after tomorrow and I don't want to be sick from eating too much. My feet are killing me. I'm going to go lay down or something," Kristen said going into her bedroom with AJ following her.
"So how about spending Thanksgiving with me tomorrow night?" AJ asked laying down on Kristen's bed wrapping his arms around her pulling her close.
"What's the plan?"
"Me and my mom are going over to the Dorough's house."
"I'd love to go. I'll get to meet your mom and Howie's family. Is Polly Anna going to be there?"
"Yeah why?"
"I don't know. I've just always wanted to meet her."
"Well, now's your chance. So how's the schedule going to go for the tour?" AJ asked changing the subject
"Well, we leave the day after tomorrow for about a month. Then we have two weeks off for Christmas and the Video Music Awards. Then go back on tour for two months," Kristen said closing her eyes and laying her head on AJ's chest.
"This is going to be torture for me not being able to be with you. You know that don't you?"
"I know the feeling. Do you want to just stay the night over here?" Kristen asked with her eyes still close.
"Yeah I do," AJ said kissing Kristen's forehead. Kristen wrapped her arm around AJ's waist and pulled herself closer to him as she quickly fell asleep.
