Chapter 63
Kristen and TJ got back to the venue a few hours later. They could hear that the sound check had already started so they ran inside of the building. When Britney saw them she stopped singing and hopped off the stage and ran towards them. "You guys have been gone for almost three hours," she said.
"So, there's nothing you can exactly do about it," Kristen said walking off.
"What is wrong with her?"
"To make a long story short she has a little problem that she needs to deal with so if she takes it out on you don't take it personally," TJ said.
"Well, what's her problem? I didn't do anything why should she take it out on me?"
"I can't tell you anything just bear with her please."
"TJ we used to be best friends and ever since Kristen came along you spend all this time with her and you have secrets that you don't tell me," Britney complained.
"It's not my secret to tell," TJ said walking away and going up on the stage for sound check.
~Later that night~
Nick, Toni, AJ, and Howie were gathered at Nick's house just hanging out and watching movies. "Oh, Toni, Kristen called when you were at work," Nick said.
"Did she want me to call her back or is she calling me back?" Toni asked.
"She wants you to call her. It's pretty late the concert should be over by now. She sounded upset about something."
"I'll call her then," AJ said getting up to grab the phone.
"I don't think she wanted to talk to you, she said she needed to talk to Toni and not to have you call her or something like that." AJ looked at Toni worried and Toni just shrugged her shoulders confused and grabbed the phone and dialed the number AJ told her to.
"Hello?" Kristen asked when her phone rang.
"Kristen what's going on?" Toni asked.
"Oh my God Toni thank God you called."
"Why what is wrong?"
"Toni, I skipped my period and my stomach has been bothering me lately," Kristen said hinting towards what was wrong.
"So, it happens what does that have to do with anything?" Toni asked not realizing what she was trying to say.
"TJ took me to the doctor today and I found out that I'm pregnant and that's why I skipped and threw up and all that."
"Oh shit," Toni said sternly. AJ was sitting on the couch and he heard her and jumped up to take the phone from Toni to find out what was wrong. Toni just moved away from him. "What are you going to do?"
"I don't know that's why I called you."
"What is wrong?" AJ asked.
"Was that AJ?" Kristen asked.
"Yeah, he's hear, do you want to talk to him?"
"No, just go into another room so he can't hear you please." Toni looked at AJ then went into Nick's bedroom.
"What was that about?" Howie asked.
"Something's wrong," Nick said.
"Really Nick I hadn't noticed that one!" AJ yelled at him.
"Hey chill out AJ I was just stating a fact."
"Well, don't state the obvious."
"Bone, you don't know what's going on so don't get so worked up over something that could be nothing," Howie said.
"No, something is wrong by the way Toni sounded."
"He's right. When Kristen called earlier looking for Toni she was sniffling a little like she had been crying," Nick added.
"Ever since I have known her she has always come to me with her problems. I know this has something to do with me," AJ said worried.
"How can you be pregnant? AJ told me yesterday you two used protection," Toni said on the phone with Kristen.
"Well apparently using protection isn't safe sex but only safer or whatever the stupid people at the hospital said."
"Okay, no need to take it out on the doctors. When are you going to tell AJ?"
"I'm not."
"Excuse me? What do you mean you're not?" Toni asked making sure she heard her right.
"I mean I'm not telling AJ. He doesn't need to know."
"He's the father! Of course he needs to know!" Toni yelled.
"Toni snap back into reality here. This is AJ we're talking about. He doesn't want the responsibility of a baby. I mean he's broken up with girlfriends before because he didn't want the responsibility of them while they are on tour. What's he going to do with a girlfriend and a baby?"
"So what are you saying about this?" Toni asked confused.
"I don't know Toni. I don't know what to do. I'm only nineteen. I'm not even old enough to drink legally yet. What am I supposed to do with a baby?" Kristen asked through tears.
"Kristen you are smart enough to do it. You took care of your niece for two months when you were fifteen because you're sister didn't want her. You are great with kids, especially Angel. Look at that little girl, she loves you to death and thinks you're her mother half the time because you treat her like you would a daughter. Sure you can have a baby and raise it but you need AJ's help. He will want to be a part," Toni said reassuringly.
"No, I can't Toni. I am so scared and I don't know what to do. I need you right now."
"Listen, I'll go talk to Nick and see what we can do about that. I will call you later."
"Alright but don't tell anyone, especially AJ please."
"I won't. AJ is going to find this out from you," Toni said then hung up the phone. She walked out of Nick's room and into his family room where him, Howie, and Nick were just sitting there not saying anything. "Nick I need you to get me a plane ticket to Kristen please," she said breaking the silence.
"Sure, what's wrong with Kristen?"
"Nothing," Toni lied.
"Bull shit Toni!" AJ yelled getting up on his feet. "What is wrong with Kristen!?!"
"I already told you! Nothing!" Toni yelled back.
"Don't give me that shit! I have a right to fucking know what is wrong with my girlfriend!"
"And you have no fucking right to be yelling at my girlfriend!" Nick yelled back at AJ.
"Nick, stay out of it," Howie said. Nick looked at him with an objecting face then just sat down again.
"You know what AJ! You do have a right to know what is wrong with her! But if she told you, you would probably blow up on her just like you are with me!" Toni yelled.
"Fine, I'll be calm, now what is going on?" AJ asked lowering his voice.
"I can't tell you."
"Fuck this," AJ said grabbing his jacket and walking out the door slamming it behind him.
"I've never seen him that mad before," Howie said. "If it's not his place to know what's going on he should just accept it."
"It is his place to know," Toni said as she sat down and tears fell from her eyes as she thought about Kristen and what she was going through by herself at the moment. "He's in it fifty percent of the way."
"Why didn't you tell him and save us all from getting yelled at?" Nick asked.
"Because, Kristen will tell him, it's not my place to Nick."
"Something is seriously wrong isn't there?" Nick asked as Toni nodded her head. "Call Kristen back and ask her where she will be tomorrow. You'll be on the first flight there."
