Chapter 78

Two weeks later Kristen went to the airport to pick up TJ. She hadn't heard any news about whether or not she made Mainstream or not so she was guessing she didn't get it. It upset her since she really wanted it but figured she just wasn't good enough. Kristen was at the gate entrance where the plane would be arriving at when TJ walked out. Kristen ran up to him and wrapped her arms around him giving him a hug.

"How you doing?" TJ asked returning the hug.

"Better now that you're here. I get bored easily and haven't had many people to go out with," Kristen responded as they walked to baggage claim.

"Haven't talked to AJ yet have you?"

"Must you ask me that every time I talk to you? You'll always get the same response."

"Sorry. So did you make that Mainstream thing you were telling me about a couple of weeks ago?" TJ asked as he collected his bags and they went out to Kristen's car.

"I don't think so. I haven't gotten any calls and auditions were two weeks ago. I doubt they call the people who didn't make it."

"Oh, I'm sorry. You never know though," TJ said as they got in the car and Kristen drove off. Kristen drove to TJ's house and dropped him off. "Hey, you doing anything tonight?" he asked when he got out of the car.

"No, I have the whole day off."

"How about I pick you up at about six and we can go out to dinner or something."

"That would be great. See you then," Kristen said pulling away. She walked into AJ's house and saw that the light on the answering machine was blinking three. Kristen pressed the message button to play back the messages. She started laughing when the first two messages were of fans screaming because they found out AJ's home phone number. Kristen went to go hang up her coat when she stopped when the third message began to play.

"This is Mr. Panopolus, the choir teacher of Mainstream, and I just wanted to inform a Kristen Bonnell that she made the group. Please stop by the college as soon as possible to pick up an information packet and congratulations." Kristen started freaking out when she found out that she made the group. She ran to the phone and picked it up and dialed TJ's number.

"I made it!" Kristen yelled into the phone before TJ could even say hello.

"What?" TJ asked confused.

"I made it! I'm in Mainstream! I was chosen!" Kristen screamed.

"Well, congrats to you. You should have more confidence in yourself from now on."

"I'm so excited about this! Listen I'll see you at six I have to run to the college!" Kristen said hanging up the phone before TJ could say another word. Kristen went and changed into some nicer clothes since she was going out to dinner and then got in her car and drove to the college. When she got there she picked up an envelope with music and a schedule of when the Mainstream classes were. She drove back home and about fifteen minutes later TJ showed up at her door and they left.

"Anything else interesting happen besides Mainstream while I was gone?" TJ asked at the restaurant.

"No, that's about it besides the girl I work with is driving me completely insane every time she sees me."

"Why's that?"

"I said something about dating AJ and she completely spazed out. Now she wants to know everything I know about him. She even asked me if he was any good in bed," Kristen said as TJ started laughing. "It's not funny. It's not exactly easy to get over someone who people bug you about all the time."

"No, you just don't want to get over him," TJ said putting his two sense in. "Okay, slight change of subject then. Have you found out if you're going to have a boy or a girl yet?"

"No, I find out next month. I'm hoping for a girl but girls are too much trouble so I could definately go for a boy. I don't really care."

"That's different. A girl thinking that girls are too much trouble."

"I'm serious. Look at my life. It's all jacked up."

"I wouldn't think so. I mean you got into Mainstream. That is a great thing for you if you want to pursue singing. Have you told Howie or AJ about getting in?" TJ asked.

"First off, I'm not telling AJ. Second, I haven't had the chance to talk to Howie yet. I'm going to call him when I get home," Kristen said as their food arrived. About an hour and a half later TJ took Kristen back to AJ's and she ran inside and picked up the phone to dial Howie's number. She let it ring about ten times and then hung up and dialed his pager number and left AJ's number on it. Backstreet Boys were in the middle of their concert when Howie felt his pager vibrating in the pocket of his pants. When they went under the stage to change he saw that it was Kristen paging him so he made a mental note to call her after the concert. About an hour later they finished singing "I Want It That Way" and they went under the stage. Howie called Kristen back while AJ was getting lectured by Kevin. "Hello?" Kristen asked when she answered the phone.

"Hey, sorry it took me so long to call back. We were on stage. What's going on?" Howie asked.

"Howie I got into that Mainstream group!" Kristen screamed into the phone.

"Good job. Maybe soon you can be a professional singer then."

"Yeah right. I highly doubt that will happen."

"You never know. Listen sorry to make chat short but I'll have talk to you later. I have to get changed."

"Alright bye."

"Bye," Howie said hanging up the phone then turning his attention to Kevin who was still yelling at AJ.

"You have been this way for the past two months!" Kevin yelled at him.

"Kevin every single concert I have put my all into it so just lay off my back for once in a while!" AJ yelled back.

"That's crap AJ! You have been totally spaced out! You sing the wrong notes and screw up the dance moves! And tonight you missed one of your solos completely!"

"That wasn't my fault."

"Who the hell's fault is it then!"

"Listen! The one person I love more than anything else and who doesn't seem to love me back yet at the same time is pregnant with my child, I haven't seen or talked to in two months! When you are in that fucking situation I don't want to ever see your ass screw up once while on stage!" AJ yelled going into the dressing room and slamming the door in Kevin's face. Kevin turned around and saw that Brian, Angela, Nick, and Howie were standing there staring at him.

"I think you should cut him a little slack," Brian said breaking the silence.

"I've been in a lot more painful experiences then what is going on with AJ and you didn't see me let it affect my career," Kevin said going into the other dressing room also slamming the door.

"Man am I glad I don't have this problem with Toni," Nick said walking away.

"I have a feeling that this last month of the tour is going to be a long one," Howie said going into the dressing room AJ was in. "Hey, I talked to Kristen a few minutes ago," he said sitting down on a couch next to AJ.

"How is she?"

"Pretty good. I think TJ got back in town today so he'll watch out for her. She tried out for a singing and dancing group at the college a couple of weeks ago and got in."

"She did?"

"Yeah," Howie said and then there was about a minute of silence.

"D, if I ask you a question can you give me an honest answer to it?" AJ asked questioningly.

"Yeah, shoot."

"Do you think that Kristen and I will ever get back together?"

"No, I don't think she will. I know she will," Howie said getting up leave leaving AJ sitting on the couch with a smile on his face and a little happiness in his eyes.
