Amma
Amma made a woman out of clay so that he could procreate, this was the earth. His first offs[ring was a monster in the shape of a Jackal. The monster couldn't reproduce however being single. Amma's second union with the earth produced the Nummo twins. These had th epotential for either sex and needed excision and circumcision to make them complete.
The Nummo twins were serpent-like with forked tongues and it was they who invented speech. They wove coiling plants to cover their mother's naked body.
The Jackal comitted incestual rape on the eatrth and tore at her plant coils thinking that they contained the secret of speech. He defiled the earth and cause all of mankind's future disasters.
Amma saw what was happening and mated with the earth once again which produced another set of twins. These were the ancestors of the Dogon. They mated and produced 4 boys and 4 girls. Each of the boys was assigned one of the four elements (earth, air, fire and water), one of the compass points (north, south, ease and west) and one of the following human actvities, magic, trade, medicine and agriculture.
the Jackal continued to make trouble but now had order to contend with.
