Kuan-Yin

Goddess of fecundity as well as mercy. She helps those who are suffering from disease.

She is often shown dressed in white, sitting on a lotus and carrying a child.

Kuan-Yin was originally a male deity 'Avalokiteshvara' who chose to remain on Earth to help to ease the suffering of others, rather than live in the luxury of Nirvana.
