Isis

Isis is the daughter of Geb (earth) and Nut ( sky) and wife/sister of Osiris, mother of Horus.

When Osiris became king of Egypt she taught her subjects to grind flour, spin, weave and cure disease. she introduced the custom of marriage and was regent when Osiris was away.

When Set killed Osiris, he cut his body into fourteen parts and scattered them far and wide. Before he was able to dismember the body however, Isis was able to bring enough warmth to the body to impregnate herself with Horus. Isis hunted for the peices, reassembled them and embalmed the body. In this way Osiris was restored to eternal life.

Isis used a magical snake to poison Ra and so managed to get him to reveal his true name before she would heal him. By knowing the true name of Ra, Isis gained power over his life and death and developed great magical powers.
