Legba
Legba is the guardian of the gates, the 'old man', the sun, parent and protector of all life. He is both male and female, the god of the intersection between the two worlds.
All Voodoo bounfor's (cult buildings) have a wooden pillar (a poteau-Legba) which symbolises the prop of the universe.
He carries a stick and wears a wide brimmed hat, always walking, the road to the other world. His colour is white and dogs are sacred to him.
