Ogoun

Originally a war god, Ogoun came to control iron. In Voodoo his power became political. He is a consort to Erzulie and is susceptible to flattery.

Ogoun is associated with the fumes of rum, which is poured on the floor and then set alight to honour him. He is a primal god, full of pent up emotion and anger. He swears and cries 'By thunder' and 'My balls are cold' which is a sign that he wants rum.

Politically, he is a wheeler-dealer, and opportunist. Many of his priests are believed to be Masons.

(FYI: Voodoo is a synthesis of African animism, Indian cults and Roman Catholicism.)
