Yama

Yama was born of the sun and his wife and had a sister named Yami who had incestuous desires towards her brother. Yama did not weaken and the twins were always together but chaste.

Yama was the first man to die and so became king of the land of death and the judge of men. He reunites friends and relatives after death and his kingdom is in the South, stormy part of Heaven.

He is also known as Pitripati 'father of fathers', Sraddaheva 'god of funerals', Samana 'the leveller' and Dandadhara 'the beater' or 'punisher'.
