Spencer County, Indiana
August 9, 2004
Hi,My name is Connie P. Hurley,
this will my first time creating a web page using
mostly pictures to help us along with identifying our families
If you see tombstone and recognize it , and if I don't have a full
name there, would you please send me information on that person
I plan on having the names of all who are in this cemetery.
It may take a while, so be patient with me.
Thank You!
Connie

A Reply from the librarian at Spencer County Indiana Library.
Connie:
We have checked the Baker's Creek minutes and history and
have found the following information copied into the loose-leaf
book.
From the Tri-State Packet
(Tri-state Genealogical Society, Evansville, IN),
Vol. 17, No. 3, March 1994:
First recorded meeting was held June 18, 1818
probably at the home of David Luce.
From a newspaper article: Boonville Enquirer, Sep. 8, 1966:
It was decided to build a church beside the graveyard on property
donated by David Luce (January 1825).
You have found a gravestone for Abner Luce dated 1818,
so it was probably a family cemetery before being given to the church
If we can help again, please contact us.
