Aha (Menes)

Traditional founder of the united Upper and Lower Egypt. He has often been associated by the nameof Narmer but it is unknown wheather Menes and Narmer are two different people or the same person.

According to sources Menes was the founder of Memphis.His supposed campaigns involved raids against Nubia and the expansion of Egyptian influence as far as the first Cataract.He is said to have died at age 63 when he was attacked by wild dogs and nile crocodiles.

He ruled for 50 years and is said to have built a royal palace in Memphis.He waged successful campaigns against the Hekssus in the Sinai.His name can be found at Wadi Halfa which is south of the first cataract.His morturay temple is called " The true Grave of the god Osiris."
