"Bird Bath": An early example of my fascination with anime art."Lunch Interrupted 1": I like the pencil versions quite a bit. But lots of colors can make everything better."Lunch Interrupted 2": I had the coloring for this one figured out from when it was first drawn -- it just took me a long time to find them in Photoshop's palette. "De Nile": I drew this one after going to an Egyptian museum. I love Egyptian art and, after seeing a certain style of dress, I wanted to try drawing it myself.
"It's Not Easy Being Blue": Aliens are fun. They can have pastel skin tones and no one will question them. Why bother with normal humans ever again?"The Cowardly Lion Gets Some Nerve": Acrylic paint, 1997. This was painted in high school as a color wheel. It was a bit frustrating to paint, but an interesting final product..."Silhouette": Watercolor and India Ink, 1997. This was also painted in high school -- and it was also very frustrating -- not just working with the paints, but also trying to draw that darn tree..."Tigris Equiferus": This peculiar creature popped out late at night over the summer. Part horse and part tiger, perhaps? Or part cat and part zebra? The overall look of the picture is meant to suggest a sketch in an old book.

"The Circle of Life": Well, not really. This picture was done for a fund raiser auction that was held in high school. Of course, they neglected to tell me that the prizes were supposed to be joke items. So...this was sort of out of place. Ah well."The Less-Than-Successful Sirens": I was watching a TV special about superstitions and they did a hokey little piece about sirens luring sailors to the rocks - showing a woman playing a harp. So, I figured if successful sirens play harps, then what to unsuccessful sirens play? Thinking about it now, I think one of them should have been playing the tuba."Sirocco": I'm not sure where he came from. Too much anime watching methinks."Eyes of the Beholder": This bears a certain resemblance to the previous picture. I couldn't get the idea of that coloring and the circuitry out of my mind. I think it turned out well -- or, at least, interestingly. If I recall correctly, this one actually came first. The full character came later.
