Unfortunately you may find some finches with an eye disease. This can spread rather rapidly. The best thing to help prevent this is keep your feeders clean and disinfect them with bleach and water frequently. When you see this in your finches, take the feeders down for awhile till they move on. Tube feeders are famous for helping spread this, so keep them clean and the seed in them fresh. You may want to contact Cornell to report it.
