If only you knew how deeply I understood
As you fell deep down into the blackness of depression
Where you thought no-one could reach you
I held tight to the slipping rope that held you so far from this world
And surly but slowly with strength of empathy,
Steadied your soul within the reflection of my eyes
But your arms escaped me
Passing like the wind
Your fingers melting like snowflakes into another hand
A tear stopped frozen across my cheek
In the confusion of emotion
That you were once again, so close in the world
Yet so far
So easy it would be for me to let go
Yet so hard
And I never, would never let go
Never, how deep the fall
Or how barren the touch
