Be there, where it all began!

The original original house that Bill Monroe was born in was on this exact site, but it burned about 1916 when Bill was only 5 years old. The chimney was the only structure that remained from the old house

This house was built around the chimney of the original cabin. The Monroe's moved into this house in 1917. Bill lived here until the death of his father, Buck Monroe, who died when Bill was sixteen (his mother had passed away several years before). Bill then moved into the cabin close by with his "Uncle Pen".

The first house burned and . The one that was repaired is the house where Bill and Charlie Monroe grew up in. This fireplace was spotlighted on CMT's "The Life and Times of Bill Monroe". It had a small flame in the fire place on the show.
