Lafayette (0-2) vs. Bryan Station (1-1) September 8, 2000
Bryan Station will not have the services of star RB 6-3 235 pound Eric Shelton for tonight's game due to a minor injury. The Lafayette Generals have been playing short-handed because of injuries and suspensions. Coach John Nochta will probably depend on speedy FB Greg Shiddell to provide offensive punch with Shelton sidelined for tonight. The Bryan Station defense will have to contend with speedster Elrazor Sharp who has been a bright spot for Coach Donald Smith this season.
There was an electrical failure at the stadium tonight, meaning there was no power in the press box, scoreboard, and concession stand for the first three quarters of the game. Fortunately the stadium lights worked and the game could be played. There was no power failure in the Bryan Station team as they defeated Lafayette by a score of 59-0. Greg Shiddell electrified the home crowd with a 74 yard TD run on Bryan Station's second play from scrimmage. Shiddell ran for 140 yards on 16 carries and reached the endzone four times. He also converted two-point conversions for a total of 28 points tonight.
The Bryan Station defense held Lafayette to 84 yards total offense and forced seven turnovers. QB Bruce Kostelnik also got in on the heroics hitting speedy receiver Robert Haskins with touchdown strikes of 12 and 52 yards. The Defender defense scored two touchdowns as well as slamming the door shut on the Lafayette offense. Gerard Combs scored on a 49 yard interception return and Jon Taylor later returned an intercepted pass 64 yards for a score.
