Woodford County (1-5) vs. Lafayette (2-4)
October 6, 2000Woodford County Yellowjackets Coach Dan Cassity and the Lafayette Generals head man Don Smith must both feel like they've been snake-bit this year. Injuries have robbed Woodford County of some of their top defensive backs as well as their top running back Damarr Clark. Lafayette has played short-handed all year as a result of a combination of suspensions, injuries, and illness. They will have one of their top weapons available tonight - So. RB Elrazor Sharp.
Woodford County overcame a 262 yard rushing effort and three touchdowns by Lafayette RB Elrazor Sharp to pull out a 32-31 thriller. The winning touchdown was actually scored by Woodford County's Bobby Gaffney on an 18 yard run with 6:59 remaining in the game. Woodford County gambled on 4th and 1 from the Woodford County 33 with 2:16 remaining and was stopped. Lafayette had a 1st and 10 from the Woodford County 22 with over one minute remaining. Chad Stechschulte intercepted a Jason Rothermund pass deep in Yellowjacket territory to secure the victory.
