Introduction
Four quality football programs will have the opportunity to showcase their talents on the beautiful synthetic turf at Joseph K. Ford Stadium.
Game One will pit Pulaski Southwestern against Ryle High School. The Pulaski Southwestern Warriors, a Class 4A school coached by Dale Anderson, finished 7-4 last season and have a lot of talent returning for the 2002 campaign. The Warriors' backfield is loaded, with QB Sam Sexton FB Jeryd Flynn and RB G.J. Wooldridge returning to challenge opponent defenses. Wooldridge ran for 1600 yards and 16 TDs last season. Class 4A Ryle High School, coached by Kyle Hockman, finished 2-8 last season and hopes to improve behind QB Ryan Fossett.
Game Two will match 4A school Nelson County against 3A power Lexington Catholic. The Nelson County Cardinals, coached by Bill Mason, finished 3-7 last season and hope to improve behind running backs Ricky Primus and Brent Boone. Lexington Catholic expects to be in the middle of the mix for Class 3A honors this year. Coach Bob Sphire's Knights finished 12-1 last year and he has plenty of offensive weapons at his disposal. QB Jacob Doss, a 6-2 200 pound senior, completed 158 of 247 passes last year for 2685 yards and 38 TD passes. RB/WR John Logan runs a 4.3 40 yard dash and is a threat anytime he touches the ball. Logan rushed for 665 yards on 81 carries for 13 scores last season and caught 25 passes for 501 yards and five touchdowns.

Game One
Pulaski Southwestern (0-0) vs. Ryle (0-0)
Pulaski Southwestern held an 18-0 lead late in the first half and it appeared the Warriors were headed for an easy victory. However, the Southwestern punter was tackled attempting to punt and Ryle took over on the Southwestern nine yard line. Kei Bodenbender scored on a one yard run and Fossett scored on a two point conversion to pull Ryle within 10, 18-8, with 14 seconds remaining in the half.
Southwestern went on a time consuming drive in the third period with Jeryd Flynn scoring on a nine yard run. The kick failed but Southwestern still held a 24-8 lead at the end of three quarters. Ryle scored on a 10 yard pass from Ryan Fossett to Ben Brzenski and a Fossett pass to Joe Fleissner for the two point conversion. Fossett struck again on a 23 yard pass to Zack Eades with 3:16 remaining on the clock. The two point conversion failed and the score remained Southwestern 24-22. Ryle got one more chance but an interception on the Southwestern 21 yard line with 17 seconds remaining in the game preserved the Southwestern victory.
