Boyle County opened their quest for a fifth state title in a row with an impressive victory over
Lafayette. Boyle County had to replace 17 starters from last season but certainly appeared
to be in sync tonight.

Highlands, ranked No. 4 in Class 3A got off to a great start with a victory over No. 10 Class 4A
Dixie Heights. Highlands got great special teeams play with two kickoff returns of 89 and 79
yards for touchdowns.

Mark Dunn missed several games with a shoulder injury last season but returned with a
vengeance tonight, rushing for 342 yards and five touchdowns on 20 carries. Dunn
scored on runs of 2, 27, 49, 11, and 92 yards.

RB Joe Casey ran for 184 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries and
QB Hunter Cantwell completed 12 of 20 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns to lead the
Blue Tornado to victory.

K. J. Austin-Bruce (192 yards and four touchdowns on 15 carries) to defeat No. 5 ranked 4A team

Soph Justin Burke made his debut as the starting varsity QB by completing 14 of 19 passes
for 218 yards and three scoring strikes.

It's obvious that Chris Lofton and Dustin Grutza
are as comfortable on the gridiron as on the basketball court. Grutza
completed eight of 13 passes for 337 yards and three touchdowns and also scored one TD
on the ground. Chris Lofton caught six passes for 254 yards and TD receptions
of 79 and 32 yards. Lofton also had a reception of 87 yards but he was stopped
on the Breathitt County eight yard line.
The No. 1 ranked in Class A
Danville Admirals stepped up in class to defeat No. 3 Class 4A Manual.
Charles Penix rushed for a touchdown and caught another TD from QB Ronnie Hawkins.

QB Michael Fisher threw TD strikes of 83 and 21 yards to lead MBA to a big victory over the
No. 1 ranked 4A team in Kentucky. Trinity QB
Brian Brohm completed 34 of 53 passes
for 414 yards and a TD.

Lonnell Dewalt got off to a great start with scoring receptions of 10, 18, and 70 yards.

Jarrod Lawson got off to a great start with 335 yards on the ground and four touchdowns.

Matt Wingrove ran for 243 yards and scored on runs of 3, 39, and 39 yards to
lead Ryle to victory. There were other heroes on offense for Ryle as QB
Colin Tracy passed for 173 yards and three scores while
Zach Eades caught three passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns.
