Who is the number one team in the state? The pre-season Class 4A is in a shambles and it's hard to believe that
Trinity is 0-3 to start the season. Class 3A appears to be loaded this season and Boyle County
has started the season 3-0. The Rebels lost 17 of 22 starters from last season but have not missed a beat.
They face Highlands in two weeks in a highly anticipated matchup between perrenial football powers.
Lexington Catholic scored a big victory over Class 4A power St. Xavier and faces Scott County
next. Paducah Tilghman has a dynamic offense led by RB Joe Casey and
QB Hunter Cantwell. Mason County has gotten off to a great start as they moved from 2A to 3A
this season and are led by the dynamic duo of QB Dustin Grutza and WR Chris Lofton.
The season is young but there are a lot of uncertainties now. Probably the number one question is will
Trinity be able to rebound? There appears to be a lot of question marks surrounding the Shamrocks but
they still have Brian Brohm and a lot of tradition. Even though
St. Xavier lost to 3A Lexington Catholic they have a solid team with an excellent running back in
K. J. Austin-Bruce. Speaking of Lexington Catholic, is So. Justin Burke
the next outstanding Lexington Catholic QB? Two games does not make a career but Mr. Burke is off to a pretty
good start and he appears to work well in Coach Bob Sphire's offense.
