Bryan Station (1-3) vs. Lafayette (3-1) September 19, 2003
Coach Traye Moore's Bryan Station Defenders enter district play with some big play capabilities. QB Drew Moran has passed for 655 yards and has two excellent wide receivers in Larmont Lawson and Jamaun Andrews. Chris Seals has led the ground game with 410 yards this season.
Coach Mike Harmon's Lafayette Generals lost their season opener to Boyle County but have rebounded to win three in a row. QB Brian Dinger has thrown for 343 yards and has a big target in 6-6 Nic Mullins. RB Kevin Trahan gives the Generals a breakaway threat and WR/KR/DB Spencer Fain is a threat to score from anywhere on the field. Star DE Bilal El-Amin has been hampered this season by a high-ankle sprain.
Lafayette only led 14-6 at halftime but totally shut Bryan Station down in the second half on their way to a 41-6 victory. Lafayette held a 350-169 advantage in total offense and the majority of Bryan Station's offense came in the second quarter. A large measure of Lafayette's success has come from two members of the Generals' basketball squad who decided to come out for football this season. 6-6 Nic Mullins is a big target for QB Brian Dinger and RB Kevin Trahan has been a threat all season. All-everything Spencer Fain must be accounted for on every play because of his 4.4 speed and knack for being around the ball.
Lafayette was led tonight by QB Brian Dinger, who completed eight of 12 passes for 109 yards and two scoring strikes to Nic Mullins. Kevin Trahan carried the ball 21 times for 114 yards and a touchdown. 5-8 230 pound Jr. QB Chris Tichenor started in place of Drew Moran, who was injured last week. Tichenor led Bryan Station tonight by completing 10 of 22 passes for 162 yard and a TD pass. Corey Blackburn caught two passes for 107 yards and an 80 yard scoring strike.
