Coach Paul Columbia's Clark County Cardinals must replace some key players on the offensive line, but expect to be strong at the running back, linebacker, and defensive line positions.  Some of the key returnees are expected to be 6-6 310 pound Sr. OT/DT Mike Fishman, 6-0 185 pound Sr. FB/LB Ben Havrilesko, 5-11 195 pound Sr. RB/LB Robert Catron, 6-3 190 pound Sr. WR/LB Lisle Adams, 6-0 230 pound Sr. OG/LB Matt Holland, and 6-2 265 pound Sr. RB/DT Charles Everett

Coach Mark Willoughby's Tates Creek Commodores finished 6-5 last season and return a strong, experienced offensive line and have seven starters returning on defense.  Some of the top returnees include Josh Kiper (OL/DL), Tim Riley (OL/DL), Daniel Covington (WR/DB), Brian Conlon (OL/LB),Eric Choat (LB),Zach Jones (WR/DB), Brad Willoughby (FB/LB), and Brandon Stocks (OL/DL). 6-6 Jr. Pete Nochta is expected to get the nod at QB.  The Commodores have a speedy newcomer in 5-8 160 pound Jr. RB Kenzale Bell, who has recorded a blazing 4.3 time in the 40 yard dash.

Tates Creek survived a 14-0 deficit at the half and torrential rain in the second half to score 21 unanswered points to take a 21-14 victory over Clark County.  Although the artificial turf drained well, ballhandling became an adventure and Clark County, which had displayed an effective passing attack in the first half, was shut down in the second half.

Clark County got on the scoreboard first with a 10 yard pass from Josh Watts to Gabe Barrett with 8:51 remaining in the second quarter.  Watts added a two point conversion on a run to make the score 8-0.  The Cardinals were back in business after recovering a fumble on a Tates Creek punt return.  Charles Everett scored on a one yard run but the extra point was blocked, leaving the score 14-0 at the half.

...and then the rains came!  Tates Creek's Brad Willoughby scored on a four yard run and Chris Kirchner added the conversion to cut the deficit to 14-7 with 4:41 remaining in the third quarter.  Brad Willoughby scored his second touchdown of the evening on a one yard run to pull the Commodores to within one, 14-13, with 5:28 remaining in the game.  Tates Creek completed the comeback as speedster Kenzale Bell raced 47 yards for a score with 1:03 remaining on the clock.  Pete Nochta ran for the two point conversion to make the final score 21-14 Tates Creek.

Tates Creek was led by Kenzale Bell, who gained 86 yards and scored one TD on seven carries.  Brian Williamson gained 49 yards on 16 carries and Brad Willoughby gained 38 yards and scored two touchdowns on 11 rushing attempts.  6-2 250 pound Sr. DL Josh Kiper led the Tates Creek defense with some big stops tonight.  Tates Creek held a 193-167 advantage in total offense, including a 154-8 advantage in the second half.

Clark County was led by Josh Watts, who completed six of 12 passes for 78 yards and one touchdown.  Lawrence Skinner led the ground game with 28 yards on five carries.
