Franklin County (4-1) vs. West Jessamine (3-2) October 1, 2004
West Jessamine exploded for three touchdowns in the second half to erase a 7-6 halftime deficit and claim a 28-14 victory over Franklin County. Eric Coker led the second half surge with TD runs of 85 and 37 yards for the victorious Colts. Franklin County held a 365-337 advantage in total yardage, bolstered by a 213-4 advantage through the air. West Jessamine outgained the Flyers 333-152 on the ground. Franklin County was penalized 10 times for 68 yards while West Jessamine was flagged twice for 15 yards.
Eric Coker led the West Jessamine ground attack with 175 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. Eli Darby carried the ball 27 times for 145 yards and scored a touchdown. Darby also punted three times for an average of 38.3 yards. Brett Hampton led the Colt defense with five solo and six assisted tackles. Glendon Blanton added four solo and four assisted tackles, including one quarterback sack for a loss of nine yards. Jake Carlson was credited with three solo and seven assisted tackles.
Franklin County was led tonight by their dual threat QB Kaelin Ammons. Ammons completed 16 of 22 passes for 213 yards and two touchdowns. Ammons also carried the ball 19 times for 109 yards. Shane McDonald caught five passes for 66 yards. Corey Harris added three receptions for 65 yards and Colton Riggs also had three receptions for 64 yards. Trey Downs led the Flyer defense with five solo and eight assisted tackles. Corey Harris was credited with four solo and 10 assisted stops.
