West Jessamine (4-2) vs. Lexington Catholic (5-1) October 8, 2004
West Jessamine's ground attack has accounted for 1255 yards and the Colts have passed for 195 yards. RB Eli Darby has carried the ball 111 times for 561 yards and two touchdowns. QB Eric Coker has 87 rushing attempts for 497 yards with seven touchdowns. Jake Carlson leads the defense with 22 solo and 33 assisted tackles this year.
Lexington Catholic has passed for 1502 yards and added 912 yards on the ground. QB Justin Burke has completed 78 of 149 passes for 1372 yards with 12 touchdowns and six interceptions. Burke has also led the ground attack with 323 yards and six touchdowns on 54 rushing attempts. David Vicini has caught 19 passes for 333 yards while Cornell Burbage has added 18 receptions for 293 yards and four touchdowns. Kevin Vogelsang has added 15 receptions for 343 yards and a touchdown. Wes Caldwell has chipped in with 15 receptions for 334 yards and has reached the end zone five times. Brandon Logan leads the Knights defense with 29 solo and 32 assisted stops.
Lexington Catholic utilized their big play capabilities tonight to defeat West Jessamine by a score of 40-0. They got on the scoreboard on their second offensive play as Justin Burke hit David Vicini on a 63 yard scoring strike. The Knights also had two more long distance scoring plays for the evening as Ben Revere scored on a 45 yard interception return and Cornell Burbage scored on a 66 yard punt return off a reverse from Ben Revere. West Jessamine rushed for 193 yards but was unable to score tonight. The Colts had two passes intercepted and lost a fumble.
Lexington Catholic held a 333-203 edge in total offense. The Knights were successful on six of nine third down conversions while West Jessamine only converted two of 12 opportunities. Lexington Catholic QB Justin Burke completed 16 of 24 passes for 248 yards and for two touchdowns with one interception. Ty Stephenson carried the ball 15 times for 76 yards. Cornell Burbage caught five passes for 90 yards while David Vicini added 89 yards and a TD on four receptions. Matt Walton led the Lexington Catholic defense with four solo and five assisted tackles. Walton was also credited with one interception with a return of 12 yards.
Eric Coker led the West Jessamine offense with 100 yards on 25 rushing attempts. Coker completed two of seven passes for 10 yards but was intercepted twice. Eli Darby carried the ball 13 times for 48 yards. Jake Carlson led the defense with six solo and two assisted tackles.
