East Jessamine (1-4) vs. Lexington Catholic (4-1) September 30, 2005
East Jessamine cracked the win column last week with a 28-22 victory over Western Hills as Rex Hager rolled up 307 yards on the ground. The Jaguars face an explosive Lexington Catholic which has averaged 47.2 points per game. The Knights have needed their high octane offense as their defense has surrendered 32 points per game and 400 yards per game. Lexington Catholic QB Justin Burke has completed 91 of 158 passes for 1457 yards and 25 touchdowns. Cornell Burbage has caught 31 passes for 477 yards with six touchdowns while Wes Caldwell has caught 26 passes for 480 yards with 11 touchdowns.
Lexington Catholic took a 47-0 lead by halftime and cruised to a 54-7 victory over East Jessamine. The Knights totally dominated the first half as they scored seven touchdowns on their first seven possissions and did not punt the entire evening.
Lexington Catholic held a 393-207 yard advantage on total offense and scored on all six of their red-zone opportunities. Lexington Catholic lost two fumbles while East Jessamine lost two fumbles and had one pass intercepted. Lexington Catholic was penalized five times for 45 yards while East Jessamine was only penalized once for five yards.
Shane Israel led the Lexington Catholic ground game with 66 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries. Justin Burke continues to light up the scoreboard as he completed 15 of 20 passes for 263 yards with six touchdown passes. Cornell Burbage caught five passes for 68 yards with two touchdowns while Wes Caldwell added four receptions for 92 yards with three touchdowns. Will Osborne led the Knights defense with six solo tackles while Jacob Locknane added four solo and four assisted tackles.
Rex Hager led East Jessamine's ground attack with 57 yards on seven carries while Chris Maynard added 47 yards on seven rushing attempts. Ryan Hager completed three passes of seven attempts for 35 yards. Dylan Daniel caught three passes for 35 yards. Tim Niswander led the Jaguar defense with four solo tackles.
