Lafayette (4-3) vs. Paul L. Dunbar (5-1) October 7, 2005
Paul Dunbar utilized their strong ground game and took advantage of six Lafayette turnovers to gain a 35-7 victory. Dunbar took advantage of four Lafayette turnovers in the first half to take a 14-0 lead at halftime. Lafayette pulled to within 13, 20-7, in the third quarter on a nine yard run by Chris Tune. Dunbar's Chris Franklin snuffed out any chance of a comeback with a 45 yard TD run to ensure the victory.
Paul Dunbar held a 393-176 advantage in total yards with 361 yards coming on the ground. Dunbar also held a 20-9 advantage in first downs. The victors were penalized five times for 35 yards and suffered two turnovers (one fumble and one interception). Lafayette was flagged five times for 39 yards but lost four fumbles and had two passes intercepted.
Will Wright led the productive Dunbar ground game with 130 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries. Chris Franklin added 107 yards and three TDs on 15 carries while Marshall Mays chipped in with 60 yards on only three rushing attempts. Franklin completed three passes of 10 attempts for 32 yards with a touchdown and one interception. Brandon Sok caught two passes for 19 yards. Mike Sweat led the Bulldog defense with two solo and seven assisted tackles. Keith Bailey added three solo and two assisted tackles. Sweat and Bailey each had a pass interception.
DeMario Richardson led the Lafayette ground attack with 82 yards on 16 carries. Logan Bunch completed nine of 21 passes for 58 yards with two interceptions. Jonny Meyer and Chris Tune each caught three passes for 30 and 12 yards respectively. Jared Leedy recorded four solo and four assisted tackles, while Travis Albrecht added three solo and seven assisted tackles. Kevin Fox chipped in with four solo and three assisted tackles.
