Scott County (6-5) vs. Paul L. Dunbar (9-2) November 11, 2005
Scott County QB Cody Andrews has passed for 1218 yards and 12 touchdowns. Rodney Haddix has 30 receptions for 668 yards and 12 touchdowns this season. Jimmie Warren has led the ground game with 1160 yards with 16 touchdowns.
Paul Dunbar QB Chris Franklin leads the Bulldog aerial game with 1767 yards and 18 touchdowns. Keith Bailey has caught 36 passes for 776 yards and seven scores. Will Wright leads the ground game with 1258 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Paul Dunbar raced out to a 16-0 first quarter lead but had to battle back from a 22-16 overtime deficit to defeat Scott County 23-22. Scott County scored first in overtime on a seven yard run by Jimmie Warren. However, the holder could not come up with the snap on the conversion attempt and the desperation pass failed. Dunbar took over and after a sack and grounding call found themselves with a fourth-and-26 call on the Scott County 26. Franklin's pass was incomplete but a pass interference call gave Dunbar a first down on the 13. Dunbar lost two yards on two plays but Chris Franklin found Keith Bailey for a 15 yard scoring strike on third down to tie the score. Sean O'Brien kicked the extra point to give Dunbar the 22-21 victory.
Paul Dunbar held a 268-216 advantage in total offense including a 184-85 advantage in passing yards. Scott County held a slim 13-12 margin in first downs. Dunbar was penalized nine times for 121 yards. Scott County lost two fumbles and was penalized four times for 33 yards.
Will Wright led the Dunbar ground game with 113 yards and two TDs on 16 carries. Chris Franklin completed 15 of 32 passes for 184 yards and one touchdown. Keith Bailey caught four passes for 82 yards and a TD. Will Wright led the defense with five solo and two assisted tackles. Ryan Oakley added 11 assisted tackles,
Keith Smith led Scott County's ground game with 70 yards and a TD on 24 carries. Keith Garrett added 43 yards on five carries. Cody Andrews completed seven of 15 passes for 85 yards. Jimmie Warren had five receptions for 73 yards. Sam Payne had a "monster" defensive effort for the Cardinals with six solo and eight assisted tackles, including two tackles for losses totalling 18 yards. Payne also blocked a field goal attempt by Sean O'Brien in the closing seconds of regulation.
