Tates Creek (1-0) vs. Ballard (1-0) August 25, 2006

Coach Mark Willoughby's Tates Creek Commodores opened the season with a 17-14 victory over Clark County.  RB Ty Sparks led the potent Tates Creek ground game with 149 yards and two touchdowns on 31 carries.  Tates Creek lost to Ballard last season by a score of 49-7.

Coach Mark Catlett's Ballard Bruins opened the season with a 46-14 victory over Greenwood.  RB Sir Weakley sparked the offense and the Bruins were the beneficiaries of six greenwood turnovers. 

Ty Sparks led the offense with 221 yards on the ground and Derrick Brown recorded a late interception to ensure a 27-20 Tates Creek victory.  Tates Creek led 20-6 with 5:33 left in the first half but Ballard rallied to tie the game at 20-20 with 1:03 left in the third quarter.  Tates Creek took the lead 27-20 on a one yard run by Sparks and an extra point by Brian Williams with 9:12 left in the game.  Ballard had one last drive and had a first and 10 at the Tates Creek 24 yard line.  However, Tates Creek's Derrick Brown ended the threat with an interception at the Tates Creek five yard line and a 13 yard return to the 18 with 1:52 remaining in the game.  The Commodores were able to run out the clock to gain the victory.

Tates Creek gained 283 yards of total offense including 277 yards on the ground.  Tates Creek recorded 16 first downs, was penalized only once for eight yards, and had no turnovers.  Ballard was penalized six times for 48 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted.

Ty Sparks led the Tates Creek ground game with 221 yards and two touchdowns on 32 carries.  Hayden Cardiff completed one of four passes for six yards.  Caleb Barnes led the Commodore defense with three solo and two assisted tackles.  Derrick Brown added one solo tackle, two assisted tackles, and recorded one interception.

Sir Weakley led Ballard's ground game with 84 yards and a TD on 15 carries.  Antonio Brown added 56 yards on 10 carries.  Timothy Pryor completed 11 of 22 passes for 159 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.  Mark Cowherd caught four passes for 27 yards and a touchdown.  Aaron Cowherd added three receptions for 48 yards and a TD.  Rodney Grace led the Bruin defense with two solo and six assisted tackles.  Drew Hardin added four solo and one assisted tackles.
