Woodford County (8-3) vs. Henry Clay (10-1) November 10, 2006
Coach Chris Tracy's Woodford County Yellowjackets offense has been led by QB Trenton Fields who has passed for 1865 yards and 17 TDs. WR Shawne Lewis is the Yellowjackets big play threat either as a receiver or a kick returner. Lewis has accounted for 1500 all-purpose yards this season.
QB Ryan Phillippi has engineered Coach Sam Simpson's Henry Clay offense. Phillippi has passed for 2162 yards and 28 TDs and added 506 yards and five TDs on the ground. Clark Jeter has 62 receptions for 967 yards and 16 TDs. Phillippi has two other dangerous receivers in Aaron Boyd and Chase Minnifield. Dontey Gay has led the ground game with 826 yards and six touchdowns.
Henry Clay raced out to a 48-7 halftime lead and coasted to a 61-7 victory over Woodford County. Most of the second half was played with a running clock. The Blue Devils defense held Woodford County to 125 yards of total offense including a minus 19 yards on the ground on 19 carries. Henry Clay scored on all their offensive possessions and their defense added two touchdowns.
Henry Clay recorded 21 first downs and 386 yards of total offense. The Blue Devils had no turnovers and were penalized three times for 32 yards. Woodford County had eight first downs and 125 yards of total offense. The Yellowjackets lost two fumbles, had two passes intercepted, and were penalized once for five yards.
Dontey Gay led Henry Clay on the ground with 106 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries. Tyler Hooker carried the ball for 64 yards and a TD on three carries. Ryan Phillippi completed 12 of 15 passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns. Clark Jeter caught five passes for 58 yards and a touchdown. Aaron Boyd added three receptions for 47 yards and a TD. Chase Minnifield also recorded three receptions for 44 yards. Grant Devinney led the Blue Devil defense with five solo and five assisted tackles and added a TD on a return with a recovered fumble for 36 yards. Jon Baker added four solo and four assisted tackles.
Nick Nicholson led the Woodford County ground game with eight yards on two carries. Trenton Fields completed 10 of 23 passes for 144 yards with a TD and two interceptions. Shawne Lewis had five receptions for 112 yards and a TD. Steve Duckworth led the Yellowjacket defense with seven solo tackles. Shawne Lewis added five solo and one assisted tackles.
