Woodford County (7-3) vs. Lafayette (10-0) November 3, 2006
Coach Chris Tracy's Woodford County Yellowjackets lost 31-27 to Lafayette in a September matchup. Woodford County led in that game 27-17 before the game was suspended due to lightning. Once the game resumed Monday night, Lafayette rallied for the victory. QB Trenton Fields has led the offense with 1663 yards and 17 TDs by completing 98 of 200 passes. Shawne Lewis has 39 receptions for 737 yards and eight touchdowns.
Coach Mike Harmon's Lafayette Generals enter the game with a perfect 10-0 record. QB Logan Bunch has completed 142 of 234 passes for 2099 yards with 22 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Chris Tune has 46 receptions for 717 yards and eight touchdowns. Tommy Gifford added 31 receptions for 575 yards and five touchdowns. Corey Layman led the ground game with 687 yards and eight touchdowns on 139 carries.
Woodford County's Trenton Fields ran for four TDs and almost returned an interception for another score to lead the Yellowjackets to a 43-22 victory over previously undefeated Lafayette. They totally shut down the Lafayette ground game as the Generals could only manage 18 yards on 19 carries. Woodford County held a 27-0 combined scoring advantage in the first and third quarters.
Woodford County recorded 20 first downs and 363 yards of total offense. The Yellowjackets enjoyed a 29:01-18:59 advantage in clock possession. They lost one fumble and were penalized six times for 41 yards. Lafayette had eight first downs and 249 yards of total offense. The Generals had three passes intercepted and were penalized six times for 60 yards.
Trenton Fields led the Woodford County ground game with 76 yards and four TDs on 28 carries. Steve Duckworth added 69 yards and a TD on 10 carries. Fields also completed 12 of 21 passes for 198 yards. Shawne Lewis caught six passes for 94 yards. Wayne Hanley led the Yellowjacket defense with six solo and two assisted tackles including three tackles for losses totalling 11 yards.
Tyler Stephenson led the Lafayette ground game with 23 yards on seven carries. Logan Bunch completed 18 of 29 passes for 231 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Chris Tune caught seven passes for 90 yards. Tommy Gifford added five receptions for 38 yards and a TD. Demetrius Mitchell recorded four receptions for 101 yards including a 75 yard scoring reception. Eric Shaw Jr. led the Lafayette defense with seven solo and two assisted tackles. Trey Shaftner added four solo and four assisted tackles.
