Lafayette, with the exception of one long Boyle County scoring drive in the third quarter, shut down the Rebel offense in a 30-6 victory. The aggressive Lafayette defense intercepted three passes and recorded five QB sacks. Darnell Burnside scored two TDs on the ground for the Generals and WR Tommy Gifford made the highlight reel with an eye-popping 28 yard TD reception in traffic from Logan Bunch.
Boyle County recorded 17 first downs and 232 yards of total offense. The Rebels were penalized 10 times for 67 yards and had three passes intercepted. Lafayette had 15 first downs and 249 yards of total offense. The Generals were penalized six times for 81 yards.
Darnell Burnside led the Lafayette ground game with 66 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries. Logan Bunch completed 13 of 16 passes for 140 yards and three touchdowns. Tommy Gifford caught five passes for 77 yards and one touchdowns. Chris McAskill also added five receptions for 60 yards and a TD. Jordan Petit led the Lafayette defense with five solo and two assisted tackles. Matt Green added four solo and three assisted tackles. Tommy Gifford, Aaron Petty, and Tim Franklin each recorded interceptions.
Jacob Smith led the Boyle County ground game with 49 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. Cole Stevens carried the ball 10 times for 44 yards. Smith completed seven of 14 passes for 108 yards with two interceptions. Bryce Perry completed five of 13 passes for 41 yards with one interception. Jordan Aumiller caught three passes for 59 yards. Cole Stevens added three receptions for 49 yards. Cole Stevens led the Rebel defense with six solo and three assisted tackles. Jeremy Bardin added five solo and two assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totalling 13 yards.
