Lexington Catholic (1-0) vs. Scott County (1-0)

Lexington Catholic scored 17 points in a 3:36 period of time in the third quarter to break open a close game on their way to a 38-7 victory over Scott County.  Scott County trailed 14-7 at halftime but began to unravel early in the third quarter.  They received the opening kickoff to start the second half but fumbled four plays later and Lexington Catholic's Nick Vicini recovered and returned it to the Scott County 22 yard line.  Devon Williams scored on a one yard run to make the score 21-7.

Scott County fumbled the ensuing kickoff and Lexington Catholic recovered at the Scott County 22.  Lane Pumphrey kicked a 36 yard field goal to make the score 24-7.  The next series added to Scott County's frustration as an apparent 80 yard TD pass from WR Eric Sanders to Anthony Sandoval was nullified as it was ruled an illegal forward pass because the exchange from QB Brandon Lawson to Sanders was also ruled a forward pass.  Lexington Catholic blocked the ensuing punt and recovered at the Scott County 2 yard line.  Devon Williams scored from one yard out to give the Knights a 31-7 lead with 4:19 remaining in the third quarter.

Lexington Catholic recorded 15 first downs and 322 yards of total offense.  The Knights were penalized 11 times for 98 yards and had a pass intercepted.  Scott County recorded 11 first downs and 226 yards of total offense.  The Cardinals were penalized six times for 30 yards and lost four fumbles.

Greg Raglin, subbing for the injured Shane Israel, led Lexington Catholic's ground game with 97 yards on 16 carries.  Devon Williams added 26 yards and four touchdown on eight carries.  QB Nic Ward completed nine of 24 passes for 139 yards and one interception.  Mack Kersey caught three passes for 66 yards.  Daniel Vogelsang added three receptions for 56 yards.  Adam Sandefer led the defense with seven solo tackles.  Braden Mann added four solo and four assisted tackles with 3.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totalling 13 yards.  Vince Guagenti recorded three solo and four assisted tackles and recovered two fumbles.

Jose Smith led Scott County's ground game with 102 yards on 18 carries.  Logan Travis added 46 yards on six carries, and Anthony Sandoval carried the ball eight times for 45 yards.  Brandon Lawson completed two of seven passes for 16 yards.  Eric Sanders caught three passes for 22 yards.  Brandon Lawson led the Cardinal defense with nine solo and two assisted tackles.  Sam Payne added one solo and seven assisted tackles.  Two of Payne's tackles resulted in losses totalling eight yards.
