Scott County led 40-20 with 4:21 left in the game and survifed a furious Shelby County rally to earn a 40-34 victory. This was a game of contrasts as Scott County's hight octane ground game rolled up 473 yards on 44 carries and the Shelby County aerial circus, led by QB Alex Matthews, accounted for 400 yards and five touchdowns through the air.
Scott County recorded 15 first downs and 516 yards of total offense. The Cardinals were penalized 10 times for 133 yards but did not have a fumble or interception. Shelby County had 400 yards of total offense and 20 first downs. The Rockets were penalized five times for 40 yards and had two passes intercepted. Shelby County netted out zero yards on 13 rushing attempts.
Logan Travis led Scott County's ground game with 233 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries. Anthony Sandoval added 88 yards on four carries. Brandon Lawson also recorded 88 yards on seven carries. Lawson completed one of nine passes for 43 yards and a TD. Eric Sanders caught one pass for 43 yards and a TD. Brandon Lawson led the Cardinal defense with six solo and three assisted tackles. Anthony Sandoval added three solo and three assisted tackles. Sandoval and Sam Payne each scored a TD on interception returns.
Otheius Beach led the Shelby County ground game with 31 yards on seven carries. Alex Matthews completed 27 of 45 passes for 400 yards with five touchdowns and two interceptions. Jordan Burk caught seven passes for 158 yards and a TD. Coty Minnis added six receptions for 108 yards and three TDs. Otheius Beach also caught six passes for 49 yards. Joe Virgilio led the defense with six solo and one assisted tackles. Johnathan Scott added six solo tackles.
