Shelby County QB Alex Matthews threw for three touchdowns in the third quarter to overcome a 17-14 deficit on their way to a 37-20 victory over Madison Central. The Indians were unable to slow down the Shelby County aerial game as Alex Matthews passed for 511 yards and four touchdowns.
Shelby County recorded 26 first downs and 592 yards of total offense. The Rockets were penalized three times for 26 yards and had one pass intercepted. Madison Central had 13 first downs and 286 yards of total offense. The Indians were penalized three times for 30 yards and had two passes intercepted.
Otheius Beach led the Shelby County ground game with 68 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Alex Matthews completed 30 of 46 passes for 511 yards with four touchdowns and one interception. Jordan Burk caught 12 passes for 277 yards and a TD. Kyle Marston added six receptions for 94 yards. Coty Minnis recorded four receptions for 69 yards and two touchdowns. Kris Taylor led the defense with four solo and three assisted tackles, with three of his tackles resulting in losses totalling 10 yards. Brandon Manica added two solo and five assisted tackles.
Keshawn Simpson led Madison Central's ground game with 91 yards and a TD on eight carries. Ricky Rhodes carried the ball nine times for 50 yards and a TD. Zac Coldiron completed 10 of 14 passes for 93 yards with one TD and one interception. Ricky Rhodes caught four passes for 31 yards and a touchdown. Tyler Mays caught two passes for 49 yards. J. R. Heiner led the defense with seven solo and two assisted tackles Austin Hunt added four solo and five assisted tackles.
