Madison Central held on to defeat Tates Creek 27-21 despite a 400 yards rushing game by star Commodore TB Ty Sparks. Turnovers hurt Tates Creek tonight as they lost three fumbles including one in the Madison Central end zone in the first quarter. Tates Creek had one final drive to either tie the score or earn the victory but the game ended with the Commodores on the Madison Central 29 yard line.
Madison Central recorded 17 first downs and 405 yards of total offense. The Indians were penalized 13 times for 137 yards, lost a fumble, and had two passes intercepted. Tates Creek had 23 first downs and 456 yards of total offense. The Commodores were penalized nine times for 80 yards, lost three fumbles and had one pass intercepted.
Ricky Rhodes led the Madison Central ground game with 118 yards and a TD on 16 carries. Keshawn Simpson carried the ball 14 times for 70 yards. Chaz Hope chipped in with 56 yards on six carries. Hope completed seven of 17 passes for 118 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Tyler Mays caught four passes for 93 yards and a TD. Daniel Bryan led the defense with two solo and 10 assisted tackles. Ricky Rhodes added six solo and five assisted tackles. James Rhodus recorded six solo and seven assisted tackles.
Ty Sparks led the Tates Creek ground game with 403 yards and two touchdowns on 45 carries. Mike Stone completed eight of 13 passes for 66 yards with one TD and one interception. Robert Knowles caught four passes for 33 yards and a TD. Joe Conlon led the Commodore defense with three solo and nine assisted tackles. Dionta Starks added two solo and nine assisted tackles.
