Boone County (0-0) vs. Scott County (0-0)

Coach Rick Thompson's Boone County Rebels finished 10-4 last season and but graduated a bevy of talented seniors.  The Rebels are expected to be very solid on the defensive line and linebacker corps.  Boone County graduated star RB Cory Farris but expects a good year from Charles Quainoo.

Coach Jim McKee's Scott County Cardinals finished 9-2 last season and should be excellent again this season.  The Cardinals have a lot of experience returning on both the offensive and defensive lines.  Scott County has an outstanding soph kicker returning in Jay Willmott.  The running attack should be led by Jose Smith and Anthony Sandoval

Scott County kicked off their season with a solid 23-14 victory over Boone County.  There was some concern for Scott County as they entered the game without the services of RB Anthony Sandoval due to an injury.  Their fears were alleviated as freshman Josh Walls carried the ball seven times for 128 yards and two touchdowns.  Walls also found time to record three solo and seven assisted tackles.  This was quite an impressive performance for anyone, especially a freshman against a solid opponent.

Scott County recorded nine first downs and 311 yards of total offense.  The Cardinals were penalized four times for 30 yards and lost a fumble.  Boone County had 19 first downs and 328 yards of total offense.  The Rebels were penalized three times for 13 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted.

Jose Smith led the Scott County ground attack with 136 yards on 20 carries.  Josh Walls added 128 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries.  Cory Cronin completed both his passes for 24 yards.  Robert Tucker caught one pass for 20 yards.  Cody Skimmerhorn led the Cardinal defense with seven solo and eight assisted tackles.  Josh Walls added three solo and seven assisted tackles.  Jay Willmott punted twice for a 46.0 average ad booted all five of his kickoffs into the end zone.

Charles Quainoo led the Boone County ground game with 234 yards and two touchdowns on 33 carries.  Nate Alford completed eight of 18 passes for 77 yards.  Daniel Lokesak caught four passes for 35 yards.  Zac Eagler led the Rebel defense with four solo and six assisted tackles.  Stephen Lewis added three solo and five assisted tackles.
