Hazard’s ball hawking defense intercepted five passes, holding Mayfield’s offense in check on their way to a 24-6 victory. Hazard improves to 12-2 while Mayfield falls to 14-1 for the season. Hazard recorded 14 first downs and 237 yards of total offense. The Bulldogs were penalized five times for 55 yards and had a pass intercepted. Mayfield recorded nine first downs and 217 yards of total offense. The Cardinals were penalized six times for 55 yards and had five passes intercepted.
Brandon Jones led Hazard’s ground game with 70 yards on nine carries. Zack Blanton carried the ball 25 times for 67 yards. Evan Whitaker completed seven of 13 passes for 57 yards. Zack Blanton completed four of six passes for 36 yards and a touchdown with one interception. Austin Johnson caught five passes for 49 yards and a touchdown. Jordan Olinger caught three passes for 31 yards. Jordan Olinger led the defense with five solo and two assisted tackles and one interception. Austin Johnson added three solo and two assisted tackles and one interception. B.J. Combs recorded two solo and three assisted tackles and returned an interception 24 yards for a touchdown. Zack Blanton and Nathan Higgins also recorded interceptions.
