Introduction
These two match-ups played at Rawlings Stadium in Georgetown should provide an interesting night of football. The first game will pit (1-0) Lincoln County Patriots against the home-standing (0-1) Scott County Cardinals. The second game will feature (1-0) Lexington Catholic against a (1-0) Bowling Green squad which has won 43 straight regular season games.
Lincoln County (1-0) vs. Scott County (0-1)
Last week Scott County lost a heart-breaking 32-28 decision to Madison Central on a fourth quarter touchdown. Coach Jim McKee's squad trailed 21-8 at half-time tonight but rallied to nip Lincoln County by a score of 22-21. Josh Morgan scored three touchdowns for the Patriots in the first half including a flea-flicker 62 yard TD reception from split end Brad Wall.
Matt Franklin, a 5-10 160 pound Sr. halfback, scored three touchdowns for the Cardinals including the deciding score on a 3 yard run mid-way through the fourth quarter. A controversial pass play on fourth-and-eight from the Lincoln County 24 kept the drive alive. Justin Christman threw a pass to Landon Hawkins which was either a reception or an interception by Lincoln County's Vince Logan depending on the point of view. The referees, despite the arguments of the Lincoln County coaching staff, ruled that both players had possession, giving the ball to the offensive player. Scott County scored the winning touchdown two plays later.
