SECOND ANNUAL ADAMS REUNION, pg 2

Texas horseshoes are fast becoming a regular part of our reunion. Maybe I can convince one of the kinfolk to write down the rules for me so I can post them here. I do know it is a heap of fun to play!

This is what Texas horseshoes look like. Not pictured is the oversized washers that are tossed like a horseshoe. The two boards are eight feet apart. The object is to get 21 points. Each team has three washers. The points are gained by standing on the edge of your board and throwing your washers into the holes on the other board. The hole nearest you is 1 point, the middle hole is 3 points and the last hole is 5 points. If your washer is capped by the opposing team, you lose your points, however, if they have a five and you throw a three, the opposing team loses three points. On the very first turn if either team gets a washer into each hole, they automatically win the game. A score of 13 to 0 is a skunk game. You must win the game by 21 points exactly. For instances, if your team has 20 points and you throw a five pointer, then you lose the five points and your score returns to 15. There are more rules that I can't think of at the moment.

Are we gonna play or talk about it? Paul Ratliff gets ready for his turn, while Lee Adams watches.

Tension builds as Aunt Carol takes her turn.
