- In the Prusuance to an act of the General Assembly of Kentucky, approved the 2nd day of December, 1806, erecrting a new county out of the counties of Madison, Knox and Floyd-- called and known by the name Clay-- the justives named in the commission of the peace from his excellancy Christopher Greenup, Esquire, Govenor of the Common wealth of Kentucky, met at the house of Robert Baker, Esquire, and the said commission was produced and read, appointing Ezekial Smith, John Haddocks, John Gilbert
