My Tribute To The King Of Nascar

All eyes fixed on the #3, He flys by so fast you can hardly see.

All the fans stand to their feet and cheer, But all the drivers know the intimidator is the one to fear.

He tried to hold the pack back some say, As he fought a hard race that day.

He never saw Waltrip cross the line, Or his son in 2nd right behind.

No one knew what that final lap would bring, As the angels carried away Nascar's driving king.

Left in shock are family and friend, Tear stained faces and broken hearts to mend.

We know not why God called him home as he hit that wall, All we know is Dale will be forever loved and missed by all.

He's looking down from Heaven above, In God's victory lane surrounded by love.

Entered into rest to be with Our Lord on Febuary 18, 2001.

Dale always drove with a scripture on his dash, he called it his message. One day he got in his car started it up and realized his message was not there. He shut off his car and got out and walked down pit row looking for Stevie Waltrip. Stevie always put his messages there for him. He would not drive without his message on his dash.

The day of his last race his message was

Proverbs 18:10

The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

Dale is safe in the arms of Our Lord Jesus! Amen!

There was a memorial held for his racing family and friends on Febuary 23, 2001 at Calvary Church in Charlotte, N.C. at noon. The church holds 6,200 people.
