Ina Elvina Hakanson

The following is an excerpt from "My Memories of the Ballinger Family", written by her uncle, Ercy Ballinger and given to me by Percy Ballinger of The Dalles, Oregon. I have typed it exactly as written.

"On my brother's (Lincoln) farm was a nice lake covering about 4 blocks when there was plenty of rain. When Ina (a niece) was about 3 or 4 years old she losened the rope that held the boat and let it drift with the wind with her alone in the boat. When she had drifted to the farther side and lodged in a barb-wire fence and was in danger of upseting I waded the width of the lake to bring her back. Water, part of the way, up to my chin. Ina said I looked mad but could not be very mad she was so cute."
