We are back at mom & dad's from our trip to
Indiana. It was great! As the S.A.R. (Sons of the American
Revolution) stated "thank you for the privilege of participating in
the most memorable patriot grave rededication we have ever attended"
They are the color guard unit from Indiana. Dad, Rocky, Percy
Ballinger and his son Paul laid the stone and dad shot George Washington
Ballinger's gun in the musket salute with the S.A.R. There were over
100 relatives attending from 8 of William's 12 children. One of the
battles that William was in was Stoney Point in New York. He
personally shook hands with General George Washington. (This was in
his official war records)

Everything connected with the Ballenger family has
been a true "Family Affair." We've all pitched in, did our
research and helped one another. I wish ALL families would be this
way. A comment was made at the ceremony concerning the friendship
and sense of family about the group even though we hadn't met before in a
lot of cases. That is exactly what I loved to hear and am happy it
came to be. May it forever be that way.
