Notes for William BALLINGER:

Served in the Revolutionary War. Enlisted in the Continental Army January 10, 1777. Served as a Sergeant for three years in Company Two of the Tenth Virginia Regiment (redesignated as Sixth Regiment in 1778) under the command of Capt. John Gillison of Culpeper County, Virginia. (National Archives File VA 13789) About 1779, became a member of the Light Infantry and was present at the Battle of Stony Point. Also present at Morristown, White Plains, Valley Forge and Middlebrook. Discharged January 10, 1780.
