1 1/2 cups butter
2 cups sugar
6 eggs (well beaten)
1 cup buttermilk
4 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. allspice
2 tsp. nutmeg
2 cups blackberry jam
2 cups strawberry jam
2 cups rasins
2 cups nuts
Cream butter and sugar, then add other ingredients, mix well. (reserve 2 cups of dough for filling) Bake at 325 for 45-50 minutes. Yeild: 5 layers

2 cups sugar
2 cups milk
lump of butter (size of an egg)
Cook in heavy saucepan, over medium heat, until thick and dark. Spread on cooled cake.
