Considered by millions throughout the world to be the greatest
adventure ever told
I congratulate you for accessing this sweet page. If you haven't
seen the first two movies of the Lord of the Ring's Trilogy, then you are
missing out on one of the greatest stories ever told. The first film
was nominated for 13 Academy Awards, more than any other film released
that year, and won four, including Best Visual Effects for the
groundbreaking techniques used by Jackson and the visual effects team to
fully realize Tolkien’s universe. For those who haven't seen the movies
or read the books, here's a little insight:
The
Lord of the Rings is a series of three books by J.R.R. Tolkien. They tell
the story of Frodo and his companions on their trek across Middle-Earth to
the fiery volcano Mt. Doom to destroy the enemy’s magical
ring, the One Ring of legend.
"One
ring to rule them all
One
ring to find them
One
ring to bring them all
And
in the darkness bind them"
The
first book of the trilogy, "The Fellowship of the Ring" was
published in 1954. It tells the story from the beginning of the adventure
to the breaking of the Fellowship.
The
second book, "The Two Towers" tells of the separate journeys of
Frodo and his companion, Sam, as they attempt to get to the volcano
situated deep in the enemy’s realm. It also tells the story of the rest
of the fellowship and their attempts to stop the advancing armies of the
One Enemy.
The
third book, "Return of the King," finishes the story of Frodo
and Sam’s quest, and finishes the story with the rest of the fellowship.
Then when some of the survivors return to the Shire, the hobbits homeland,
they must pick up the pieces and rebuild the land that the war took to the
brink of destruction.
