Tennis

Tennis is my favorite sport.  I started my 8th grade year when I realized that tennis was something I liked and because our soccer team wasn't very good.  Mandan doesn't have a boy's tennis team.  I live in Mandan. That hurts.  To play a game I love, I had to drive over to the co-op with Century every day after school. OUR SCHOOL IS BIGGER than their school.  Why don't we have one?  It's because Mandan doesn't support tennis in any way.  No information gets out about it and by the time people are in high school, they are either in another sport; or are too lazy to do anything.  Everyone begins to call tennis a girl sport because Mandan only has a girl's team and call me a traitor for going to Century.  Have you ever heard of Pete Sampras or Andre Agassi?  Did you know that when tennis first started, only rich noble men were able to play it? Did you know that I am able to wear black shorts instead of Century's color red?  Did you know that the co-op also includes the schools north of the main street border from Mandan to Bismarck?  How about the idea that tennis is actually popular in every school that has a boy's tennis team; here's a few :  Bismarck High, Century, Minot High, Minot Ryan, Dickinson, Williston, Fargo North, Fargo South, West Fargo, Jamestown, Valley City, and Grand Forks?

Ouch!

I am attempting to start a Mandan boy's tennis team. So far I have 20 people signed up.  You only need 7 for a varsity team and 5 more for a JV team.  If there is this much interest, why didn't we have a team earlier?

My Game Face

I was on the top of the JV team at the beginning of the year

I had to beat this kid to get on Varsity

The Century/Mandan team placed 4th at state when we were 7th going into it.  We lost to Grand Forks, but managed to beat Williston 3-2 and Dickinson 3-2. I won both my matches with the two.
