My wife has never hunted before in her life. So one hunting season I talked her into going with me, to see if she would like it. Well in some ways she liked it and other ways she didn't.
It was kinda cold that morning and she sure didn't like that! But she likes the birds singing, and just the sounds in the woods.
We sat about an hour and a few does came down the trail. She got so excited she couldn't sit still. But the does never did hear or see us. I could tell she liked it some. Because she loves the outdoors and she loves wild animals.
It wasn't no time until we spotted a deer coming down the trail, but it was to far off to tell what it was, But the closer it got, her heart started pounding, harder and harder. The excitment was getting to her fast.
I told her to settle down and take deep breaths, so she did. But when we saw what was on that buck's head we both went crazy. She told me to settle down. But before I could get my nerves settled, she shot! It scared me to death.
I said 'Honey' you missed that big eight pointer! She looked at me real funny and said "well if I missed it, what is that laying beside that tree"?
We sat a few minutes and we got down from our stand. We walked over to where the buck laid. I told her that was the prettiest buck I had ever seen.
When she looked at it, big tears came in her eyes. I told her don't cry honey, you have got a great buck. Anybody would be proud of a buck like that. Then she smiled, and ever since that day she has loved deer hunting with me. And she said she will go back with me again.
